Lashing

Lashing, also called lash strapping band or lash band, are single-use or disposable lashing straps, which consist of woven polyester filaments. Once the lash strapping band has a width of 32 mm, one can speak of lashing. As with multiple-use lashing straps, the tensile strength is printed onto the lash band.
It should also be mentioned that all our lashing products have Germanischer-Lloyd (GL) certification approval. With the 32mm wide lashing a tensile strength of 2,300 daN is achieved, with the 40mm wide band it is even 5,000 daN!

The differentiation between tensile strength and stability often leads to confusion: The tensile strength tells us when the lash strapping band would break if pulled on both ends, whereas the stability stands for a theoretical contruct: the strapping band is pulled around the packaging good so that the stability is usually twice as high compared to the tensile strength. As the twin-bedded seal is the weakest link in the chain, the double-strength is reduced a litte though.

This is quite simplified, but we want to explain the difference so you know what is offered on the market and can distinguish more easily between our competitors' and our own products.

You can reach optimal stability of lashing and seal by using twin-bedded seals (OWB3030 for 32 mm and OWB4040 for 38 - 40 mm width). To exploit the maximal stability of lashing, we recommend a strapping device which has been developed particularly for lashing – the LS-Lash HD, which is very solid but also lightweight, thanks to the aluminum it is made of. The big lever allows especially high tensioning power and the device is also designed for working vertically very comfortably.

A very comfortable variant for tensioning lash strapping band is the use of a pneumatic strapping device for lashing, the so-called PneumoLash. The tensioning power can be preset so that deviations can be excluded. In some cases, the defined measures for transportation safety explicitly require this procedure. The PneumoLash allows very high tensile strength of about 7.500 N which makes full use of the lashing's stability.

Differently from woven polyester strapping, the lashing consists of fewer polyester filaments which however are processed in a clearly tighter weave and in a double layer. This means that lash band consists of two layers of woven polyester strapping.

Lashing as a special type of woven polyester strapping is heat-resistant up to 200°C. With glued and composite polyester strapping this is not possible due to the hot glue or PP layer.
