PP-Strapping

PP-Polypropylene-Strapping, also called PP-Strap, is the simplest type of strapping among plastic strapping bands and is mostly applied with automatic strapping machines. The reason for the many core sizes is this: Most automatic strapping machines offer a core holder for core dimensions of 200mm. As a measure to increase customer loyalty, Strapex introduced a core dimension of 280mm some years ago. Then other manufacturers adapted their product lines to be able to provide strap for Strapex-customers. Moreover, PP strap is also available on a 406mm core, which are partly used for fully automatic pallet-strapping devices, but are especially used with manual strapping devices. In that process the large roll of PP strap is set onto the dispenser cart and the strap is normally applied with battery-powered strapping devices.   

PP-Polypropylene-Strap is also available in dispenser boxes; there are 1000m in one dispenser which are used with plastic buckles which eliminates the need for a strapping device. PP strap is therefore not only an inexpensive but also mobile solution in the area of strapping.

With regard to PP-strap, we can distinguish between embossed and smooth design. Some strapping machines require smooth strap, like f.ex. SPIRIT-machines by Signode. Signode calls their strap “Dylastic Band” and use abbreviations like 714B, 716B, 718B. These strapping bands have a 406mm core. When an „SP“ is added to the item number, it involves SPIRIT strap and is produced on a 200mm core for strapping machines. You will find smooth PP strapping in our online-shop.

Printed strapping band is mainly used for advertising purposes as you can also put an individual logo or slogan onto it. A further advantage is that the strapping assumes a sealing function. The minimum purchase of printed strapping is one pallet, as lower quantities would not be profitable due to the setup times.
