Smooth PP-Strap

Smooth Polypropylene strapping - PP-Strap - is mostly sold by Signode under the brand name "Dylastic Band". Smooth PP strapping on a 200mm core is also named "Spirit Band" since it is used for the Spirit strapping machine by Signode. This strapping has no embossment so that its tensile strength is higher than with embossed strapping. This is, however, also one reason for a clearly higher price.

Smooth strapping is a special strap which has been developed for middle and light tensioning applications, distinguishing itself by high elongation and breakload, an excellently retained tension and efficient seal joints. Smooth strapping has particularly been designed for use with fully automated strapping machines and hand tools wherever a high reliability, a high seal tensioning and a good edge stability is needed.

As long as smooth PP strapping is not operated on Spirit machines but with battery-powered strapping machines, f.ex., one should examine very diligently whether the same tensile strength could also be achieved with a thinner PET strapping for a clearly lower price.
