Pneumatic strapping tools for plastic straps have the advantage that very high tensile forces may be reached. Therefore, pneumatic tools are used in particular for very strong PET strapping like f.ex. 19 or 25mm strapping width. Strong battery-powered strapping tools like the Orgapack OR-T 400 or Signode BXT2-19 can reach a maximum of 4.000 N tensile force, whereas the pneumatic strapping tool LS-14 can reach up to 6.000 N.
Further, pneumatic strapping tools are always the device of choice when strapping occurs in an on-going process, because here the battery capacity does not pose a limit as with battery-powered strapping devices.
The disadvantage as compared to battery-powered strapping tools is obvious: Pneumatic devices always need an air supply and are, therefore, suitable rather for stationary work. Battery-powered tools on the other hand are more flexible in their place of work.
